Sometimes called a footstone, marker, or lawn-level marker, a flat marker is a memorial installed flush with the ground. Because of their low profile, lawn-level memorials are typically the most economical option, though they offer less space for lettering and design compared to upright or slant memorials.

Lawn-level memorials are commonly installed with either a concrete foundation or our most popular option today—a polished deluxe granite edge. Both options include a mowing border designed to protect the stone and help keep it visible from grass overgrowth.

The deluxe granite edge is a larger-profile granite border with a sanded or polished exterior edge. It is the strongest installation option, which allows designs and lettering to extend into the border area, and does not require concrete. A traditional concrete foundation remains available; however, it is not as durable as the deluxe granite edge.

At Midwest Memorials in Hudson, WI, we design custom flat grave markers, single and companion, for families across the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin.
